Natural Hair Care 101
Lesson 1. Moisture Moisture Moisture!!
Keeping your hair moisturized is essential to healthy hair care. You’ll need to have a go-to moisturizing routine handy to keep your hair moisturized on a regular basis. I have what I like to call a “moisture regimen”. After I shampoo and condition my hair I apply my favorite water based leave-in and then I apply my favorite oil to seal in the moisture. Also protective styles such as twists and braids keep hair moisturize for a longer stretch of time. The final step is also to protect hair overnight with a satin cap or scarf, this also helps to lock in the moisture. Don’t forget to: Moisturize-Seal-Protect!! Click here to read more

10 Tips To Avoid Breakage
Tip #1. Keep Hair Moisturized
Moisturizing is absolutely crucial to healthy natural tresses, having a go-to moisture regimen will help tremendously when it comes to caring for your natural hair. My 3 step moisture regimen is really simple and easy to follow. I have listed it here below and hopefully it will help you as much as it has helped me.
My Moisture Regimen
Step 1. First I shampoo and condition my hair. Once that process is complete, I add a water based moisturizer to my hair while its still wet. (I’m using the Kinky Curly Knot Today)
Step 2. Next I apply my favorite oil to seal in the moisture. (I use coconut oil)
Step 3. After styling, I cover my hair with a satin scarf to keep it moisturized over night. Click here to read more

My Detangle Routine
The Twist-In Shampoo Method
I wash my hair with twists already in, this method has helped me tremendously with my detangling sessions. So let’s say for example that my hair is in an old twist out and that I want to wash and re-twist my hair for the following day.
Step 1.
I began by twisting my dry hair into medium sized sections.
Step 2.
After finishing these dry twists, I then go ahead and wash my hair with the majority of the focus on cleansing my scalp. I use an applicator bottle to apply the shampoo directly to my scalp. Note: If you make the twists too big they will unravel during the washing process. Click here to read more

Transitioning Tips
Thinking about going natural? If you are you’ve probably heard about the “Big Chop” but did you know you also have the option to transition to natural hair? I didn’t know that there was such a process until I did my research. Before embarking on this journey I actually believed that I could somehow magically get my relaxed ends to go back to being natural again. As a young kid I used to get relaxers because I thought that it was the only way to make my hair look presentable. I didn’t understand what the chemicals were actually doing to my hair or that a relaxer was permanent! I remember asking a hair stylist what I would have to do to go natural, and she told me I’d have to chop it all off! Short hair! I’m not gonna lie. I have four sisters and growing up we really cared about our length. As my hair grew longer even with a relaxer I got so many compliments and somewhere along the line I began to equate long hair with being beautiful. Click here to read more

Hi KaSheera! I have watched just about every last one of your tutorials and I love your hair. You have truly inspired me to go natural. I am transitioning and I just started last month on September 10, 2012. This is so different for me since I have gotten a perm just about half of my 28 years. When I was in elementary school my grandmother would press my hair with a hot comb until I was about 10 years old, after that I have been getting perms ever since. I am excited about my decision to go natural at the same time I think it’s going to be a bit challenging for me. Right now I only have about 3 to 4 weeks of new growth. Or is it new growth, or just scalp hair? I think I may be a 4b/4c hair type, I really don’t know yet since I’m just starting to transition. I visit your website all the time and it is very helpful. Should I use the same products that is listed on your website for transitioning hair? I just started a twitter page two weeks ago, although I don’t have any photos up yet I do plan to post some once I find the time to. I am currently one of your followers. Thank you so much KaSherra for being a great inspiration for natural women! You are truly appreciated!
